Modernizing Retail Item Management
Transforming Multiple Legacy Systems into a Single Source of Truth
Domain: Enterprise UX Design (B2E)
Timeline: 4 months
Role: Lead UX Designer, Researcher & Strategist
Process Phase: Create
OVERVIEW
A unified vision of Item Management driving multi-million dollar decisions and securing the future of business vitality.
Five retail brands were operating on failing, fragmented inventory systems, creating high operational risk, millions in losses, and inconsistent in‑store execution. The opportunity was to replace disconnected legacy tools with a unified, practical vision that could guide modernization without derailing the business.
Role: As Lead UX Designer, Researcher, and Strategist, I led research, alignment, and design across all five brands to replace assumption‑driven decisions with validated insight.
Impact: A single, shared Item Management vision is now guiding multi‑million‑dollar investment decisions, reducing engineering risk, and aligning leadership on where to modernize first. This work has shifted stakeholder priorities decisively toward frontline realities, breaking years of gridlock and preventing costly downstream rework.
Solution: Delivered a high‑fidelity conceptual prototype that unified 40+ fragmented workflows into a single streamlined end‑to‑end Item Management experience. The prototype serves as a living blueprint for engineering, operations, and compliance, showing exactly how associates manage items, pricing, orders, and tags all in one cohesive system.
